Witnesses Sought for I-5 Drive-by Shooting

Washington State Patrol (WSP) is seeking witnesses for a drive-by shooting on I-5 that occurred on August 23, 2026.

At approximately 4:50 p.m. on August 23, a victim driving a black Ford Raptor was shot at by a suspect vehicle on SB I-5. A bullet pierced the front passenger door and lodged in the seat. The suspect, driving a Kia Spectra, was described as a black male with a black female passenger. The incident began on EB SR 518 and continued onto SB I-5 near S. 216th, where the suspect fired a single shot.

The one-sided road rage incident started EB SR 518 to SB I-5 with the suspect driving a Kia Spectra. The suspect continued driving aggressively and when the vehicles were in the area of SB I-5 near S. 216th the driver of the suspect vehicle fired one shot at the victim. The driver was described at a black male with a black female in the passenger seat. The suspect continued SB I-5 at a high rate. Detectives are seeking anyone that witnessed or has information on this shooting.
