WSDOT announced multiple highway closures and lane reductions effective this week in Centralia–Chehalis. The closures include one general-purpose lane of eastbound SR 522 from 8 p.m. Tuesday through 4:30 a.m. Friday, August 18–21. A single lane of US 12 over I-5 will close nightly from 7:30 p.m. Monday, August 10, to 6 a.m. Thursday, August 20. The northbound State Route 99 First Avenue South Bridge will close from 5 a.m. Saturday, August 22, to 11:59 p.m. Sunday, August 23.
These closures support bridge repairs, guardrail installation, and pavement work. Travelers are advised to expect delays and follow signed detours. The US 12 bridge closure requires using a detour via northbound I-5 to Exit 71 for SR 508, then southbound back to US 12. The SR 99 bridge closure will close the northbound on-ramp to SR 509 and off-ramp to South Michigan Street.
The longest ongoing closure is on SR 730 between US 12 and the Oregon State Line, with alternating traffic controlled by flaggers until September 18. WSDOT will provide updates on their website for real-time changes.
